Abstract
ABSTRACT
This article aims to explore the role of Hindu religious education in preserving local wisdom, building interfaith tolerance, and addressing the challenges and solutions in adapting Hindu education to the developments of globalization and technology. This research employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, supported by an in-depth literature review from various relevant sources. The findings indicate that Hindu religious education plays a significant role in preserving local wisdom by teaching values such as ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truth), and dharma (moral duty), which contribute to the development of interfaith tolerance. This education serves to strengthen Hindu cultural identity in the face of globalization, which often threatens the diversity of local cultures. The main challenges include the penetration of foreign cultures and the impact of information technology that may undermine local values. The use of technology and social media as tools to disseminate values of peace and tolerance becomes crucial. The implications of this article suggest the need for a revision of the Hindu education curriculum to integrate technology in introducing Hindu values to the younger generation. This article highlights the importance of Hindu religious education in strengthening social cohesion in multicultural societies, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and tolerant society. In conclusion, Hindu religious education can serve as a tool to preserve local wisdom, reduce interfaith tensions, and build a harmonious society in the era of globalization.
